OUR VISIT TO ANKHUASI

ANKHUASI

This village is situated in a scenic valley among corn and potato fields about a one hour drive from Cusco.

Several hundred people greeted us at the main square.  Carla added this place in part because many handicapped people live in this area.  The local community has a program for families who don’t want their children institutionalized.  They do what they can including rebuilding old wheel chairs when they can find them.

There was one boy who is in need of surgery and I was asked if our organization could help.  I said we weren’t equipped to help, but I would check with other organizations in the USA.   So please let me know if you have suggestions.

Santa was able to give toys and clothing to everyone in attendance.  Afterwords, we were invited to have lunch.  What they had to offer was potatoes and cheese.  It was an excellent meal.
